The Swan in Little Totham,is one of those idyllic establishments set
back from the road in a sleepy old Essex village. The pub itself dates back to
the 1600's, but its beers are most certainly modern, but none the less, proudly
traditional. John & Val Pascoe take great pride in being able to offer an
extensive range of traditional real ales throughout the year and are recognised
as being an ale house of note, currently the CAMRA pub of Essex for 1999. The
Swan fought off some stiff opposition to be awarded this covetted title. A free
house, this pub offers a minimum of 4 guest real ales at any given time, 7 to 8
ales at weekends, and aims to change its guest beers every week, The Swan also
serves excellent traditional cider Weston's "Old Rosie" and
a range of premium lagers and an excellent premium Guinness. If
you're in the area you mustn't miss visiting this most welcoming of traditional
Essex real ale pubs.
