Live from South Africa

After 17,000km we finally made it around Australia, sold our van and topped up our tans on Bondi and flew out of Sydney. 16 Hours and 9 time zones later we arrived in Johanesburgh, some what dazed. Stayed at Dana's (a friend from Tanzania(BPB)) mums for a night. Hired a car and after exploring Pretoria set of for the Kruger national park. Kruger was the first game park in Africa and is the size of Wales. Spent 6 days on Safari and saw Lions, giraffe, zebra, Impala, leopards, buffalo, hippos, baboons, monkeys and elephants. It was amazing to see so many wild animals at close hand even if we had to get up at 4.30am in the morning to see them!!! After 2 days camping in almost 40 degrees c we splashed out on a £12 AC african thatched hut. Met up with my friend Dana for a night, and had a great Barbie under the African stars , helped by 1.50 per bottle of good wine and 25p cans of beer. Headed back to Pretoria to drop of our borrowed tent and next day drove 1200KM to the Garden route 500km east of Cape town. Drove over a 5000ft pass which had fantastic gourges and bathed in a waterfall plunge pool. Next day we hit the coast, dropped the hire cart off and mellowed out. Tomorrow we are off to Cape Town which is mean't to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world, white sand beaches, wineries, mountains and a good mix of African and European culture.
